Acupressure How-To Video for Sleep
A really common issue I see with many of my patients is insomnia. This can take many forms: some of us have difficulty falling asleep, some wake too early in the morning, some sleep restlessly or wake several times throughout the night. Acupuncture is usually incredibly helpful for addressing sleep issues like these. Combined with good sleep hygiene, maybe a breathing exercise, meditation, or two, and sometimes dietary supplements, we are usually able to consign insomnia to nothing but a bad memory.
Many of my patients have found that reinforcing the work we do in the treatment room with nightly acupressure on their own to be an especially effective tool. If you are suffering from insomnia, I encourage you to try the acupressure point prescription that I discuss in the above video. I would suggest to do the acupressure before bed each night to encourage restful sleep, and as needed if you find yourself waking up at 4am. Try this nightly for a week and see if it makes a difference in your quality of sleep. And remember that acupuncture will always have a stronger therapeutic effect than acupressure, so if you notice some change but are still not a champion sleeper, take that as an indication to come in and try a full acupuncture treatment!
Sleep tight and pleasant dreams, all!
