Summer is the best time for Facial Acupuncture... ask me why!

First, let me introduce you to one of my favorite acupuncture treatments that I do in my office in Tarrytown, Facial Acupuncture. This treatment is longer than the others, a full hour and a half, and combines targeted slow aging acupuncture with facial massage using both guasha and cupping tools. The careful placement of acupuncture needles in the face and scalp help stimulate collagen and elastin production and actually densifies the skin matrix which helps with elasticity, firmness, and support for the facial structures. The increase in circulation and collagen synthesis also helps to achieve an overall health and vitality to the skin and complexion itself. The result, especially over time with repeated sessions, is a firmer, plumper, and more radiant complexion, with less noticeable fine lines, wrinkles, sun spots, and acne. I don't believe in trying to erase all signs of living from our faces as we get older... but if we can make you look like the best possible version of your age, then I think that is a great goal!
Why is the summer such a great time for Facial Acupuncture? Because it has no downtime and no adverse reaction with sun exposure. Many anti-aging treatments such as peels, lasers, microneedling, etc, have very strict requirements for staying out of the sun before and after the treatments for several days. This can be very difficult for many patients to properly adhere to in the summertime, with vacations, pool time, or even just an alfresco lunch with friends. Because of this, a lot of patients take a break from treatments over the summertime. But, with Facial Acupuncture you can still work on supporting your slow aging goals and support your skin's health even during these sunny months! And because our skin does take a bit of a beating with all of the sun and salt or chlorinated water it is exposed to during these months (even with proper SPF usage and a strong moisturizing routine) this is exactly the time when your skin would benefit the most from Facial Acupuncture.
If you are curious how Facial Acupuncture might fit into your slow aging routine, reach out for a consultation or make an appointment online! And please please please... wear sunscreen! :)
